A bathroom faucet–not a big purchase, but boy is it complicated. Do you want two handles or one, a high arch or a sharp geometric shape? What’s your budget?

Usually they only ask that when you’re buying a new car, but you could hear it in a few home improvement stores. That’s because there is such a large selection that it makes your head spin. (Can you believe Home Depot has a few faucets over $2,000 …shew…)

Those Simple Home Repairs

It all starts as a simple home repair project, but it can quickly get out of hand. The bathroom faucet is dripping. Time to replace it. So, you head out to the nearest home improvement or bathroom supply store, thinking this should be a quick trip. How wrong you are.

Bathroom Faucet Styles

If you haven’t shopped for a bathroom faucet in awhile, you may be surprised at the selection–everything from rich brown oil rubbed bronze to a cool metal satin nickel. Just coordinate it with your bathtub filler and toilet handle. (Sorry, a pet peeve of mine!)

Contractor or Not?

Installing a bathroom faucet is not brain surgery, but it can be a little tedious. If you’re not the patient type or just don’t want to deal with it, call a plumbing contractor. If you want to learn, check out those Saturday classes at a local home improvement store. Just make sure you buy all the supplies while you’re there. Nothing like three or four trips to the home improvement store to ruin your weekend.

Home Improvement? Think Value

A bathroom is the type of home repair, when done right, that can quickly boost your home’s value. Change out the faucet as you replace cabinet hardware and perhaps the sink. What a transformation. Just don’t get so carried away that you spring for the $2,000 faucet.
