How much remodeling can you do in a weekend? Lots, if you are realistic and focused. Here’s a look at some quick remodeling projects that shouldn’t take more than 2 or 3 days. Two tricks:

  • Buy your supplies before you start. You don’t have time to waste running back and forth to the home improvement store.
  • Get the project set up the night before so you can jump right in on Saturday morning. Also do any caulking so that it dries.

Bathroom remodeling

Well, you can’t do a full bathroom remodeling in a weekend, but you can:

  1. Replace the vanity and faucet.
  2. Add crown molding or wainscoting.
  3. Paint. If there is wall repair to do, though, start that the night before so any joint compound can dry.

Paint kitchen cabinets

An intense job, but if you are focused and do your prep work ahead of time, it’s doable. Here’s a step by step on this home improvement project.

Fence remodeling

You can install a small fence or stain an existing one in a weekend. Just get any permits and supplies (such as a post hole digger) ahead of time. Also, give the neighbors a heads up so you avoid any disputes that might slow down your progress!

If you’re restaining a wood fence, stock up on gloves, rollers and brushes. If you’re using a paint sprayer, be careful not to go wild and soak your bushes and perennials. Here’s more from Wooddefender.com.

Declutter and add storage

When decluttering, start by making a list of the 3 to 5 areas that bother you the most. Be realistic about what you can do in a weekend, however. Stick to small rooms, a few closets or one section of the basement.

Here’s a look at how to add storage and make remodeling work to your advantage when storing everything from belts to sheets to shoes.

I like projects that are quickly accomplished. To me, little weekend projects are so much more enjoyable than the never-ending home improvements that just drag on and on…..
