Are you the sensitive type or the vigilante when it comes to remodeling? Do you review bids patiently or yell and scream when a contractor is late? If you’re wondering which remodeling personality type you fit, read through this musing from move.com. If you’re like me, you’ll see a little bit of yourself in a few of the styles.

Sensitive?…When Remodeling?

The sensitive one is a stretch for me. It’s hard for me to think about being calm and sensitive when there’s so much to do to coordinate the schedules, oversee the mess, and pay the bills. But, that’s just me.

When it comes to worrying about contractors who vanish in the night, I can relate to that personality. The key to avoiding that stress is planning. Before hiring contractors, take the time to get to know them. If they give you their home address, you know they won’t run away. With a little work, you can learn whom to trust …and which ones to run away from!

How to Avoid Yelling at the Contractor

This whole personality thing isn’t just a fun quiz. It can give you a few tidbits to carry to your next kitchen remodeling or room addition. By looking at your remodeling style, you realize that remodeling chaos drives you nuts. Use that information to really fine tune your contractor selection.

On the flip side, if you know that you really like meticulous wood working, look for the kitchen remodeling contractor who spends that extra time on fancy molding. Don’t expect to get that level of detail without spending a little more, however.

Keeping Your Sanity During Remodeling

Remodeling is all about personalities–yours, the contractors, and even the building inspector’s. It helps to understand your own and what drives you crazy about a kitchen remodeling or roofing project. Being prepared is 95 percent of the battle. Having a sense of humor doesn’t hurt either.
