Clogged drains are everybody's nightmare - but we can help you fix them.
What To Do
If the clog in your drain is somewhere in the trap or the pipes behind the trap, you can probably fix it by yourself. You won't need that many supplies either. However, if the clog is deep inside your system, like the soil stack or the main drain underneath your house, you should call in the professionals.
The easiest way to fix a clog is to stop one from occuring in the first place. Every week, use this environmentally-friendly mixture to keep your sink and bathtub drains clear:
- 1 cup salt
- 1 cup baking soda
- ¼ cup cream of tartar
This mix should make enough for four household drains. You can easily adapt the mixture for larger or smaller numbers though. Pour equal amounts into your drains and then follow it with two cups of boiling water.
