Swimming Pool Glossary: Flow Rate

Flow rate is a measurement of the time it takes a certain amount of water to travel through the filtration system. The flow can be expressed either in volume or weight per time period. For example: ml/min, lb/hour.

The Importance of Flow Rate
The flow rate of your pool or hot tub should always be taken into consideration. The flow rate plays an important role in how clean your pool is and determines how quickly oxygen and calcium carbonate travel through your system. The more you recirculate your water, the more important flow rate becomes.
