Electrical Gone Awry

While I don't know much about electrical systems, I knew I was in for trouble when I opened up the cabinet door and saw the electrical panel that was hiding a horrible secret.
When the Home Inspector looked at it, the first thing he noticed was that there was no main shut-off. The second thing he noticed is that most of the connections were "piggy-backed" or "sharing" the same load.
This project quickly became priority number 1. So we called in a professional electrical contractor who completely overhauled the system. He upgraded the home to a 200 AMP panel, cleaned up the wiring, removed the old cable which was awkwardly run around the house instead of through it and regrounded everything.
While it was a project that cost a little over $2000, it was a Must-Do and now I can feel safe knowing that this is all up to standards and no longer a fire-hazard.
