~ New Updated Lighting for an Old Kitchen

When we moved into our house, there was a total of three main lighting sources in the kitchen and dining area: one light above the table, one in the middle of the kitchen, and one above the sink. Along with not being nearly enough light, the lighting fixtures themselves were unsightly and outdated.
I actually bought the new hanging light fixtures online a couple of years before we installed them. They were a good price and it was well worth the hassle of storing them until we were ready for them - especially since they are no longer available for purchase! In addition to new lighting in the kitchen and above the sink and dining table, we installed recessed lighting and hardwired under cabinet lighting. The difference now is like night and day, literally!
Our goal: To add to and update our kitchen lighting
Our biggest challenge: Figuring out how to hardwire the recessed lighting and how to hide the wiring, Getting the cuts for the holes in the tung and groove ceiling *just right* for the recessed lighting
Our greatest accomplishment: Doing this giant electrical project ourselves and saving money in the process
