Kitchen Renovation: Old School 70s to Modern Austin, Texas Metro

This is a townhome I purchased in 2008 in Austin, Texas. The goal was to modernize the kitchen.

This was an exhaustive, year long process. The biggest challenge was completing a project and seeing that every improvement made it apparent that once we finished one project we had to keep going to modernize it and everything out of date stuck out like a sore thumb.

Here's what I we did:

1. Removed old rectangular florescent lighting - installed six florescent spots
2. Cut out the bar counter-top and replaced with granite tile
3. Cut out a section of the wall and made it more breathable and open
4. Did not come with an exhaust vent - installed a GE Monogram Exhaust Vent
5. Removed pantry to make an island kitchen counter top
6. installed new ceiling and orange peel texture
7. painted ugly green 70s cabinets and counter to white
8. Installed new trim and molding around entry way
9. Installed hardwoods where pantry was located
10 Installed birch paneling around range counter

I wish I could upload more photos to show you this exhaustive process, but only allows three photos. I hope you like it.

Except for a few contractors, my friend Robert Juler helped with with all project. Thanks Robert!
