~ A Deck Makeover

I didn't think our old, dilapidated deck had any life left in it before we tackled this project, but it proved me wrong.

We started with a tired, sad looking deck that needed a lot of TLC. It had an equally sad adjoining smaller deck connected to it that served no real purpose, so we started by removing it completely. We then added railing and seating where the entrance to the smaller deck had once been.

After replacing a few worn out boards, we gave it a good cleaning and went to work applying a cheery red deck stain. Needless to say, we were quite pleased with the transformation!

Our goal: Put life back into our deck
Our biggest challenge: Recreating the new seating and railing to match the old
Our biggest sense of accomplishment: Taking something that seemed beyond hope and making it look brand new again...Kind of like shining old tarnished silver!
