My goal with landscape design is to present a pallet of color, texture and interest all year round. I always include a combination of colorful evergreens along with long blooming perennials to supply interest during the different seasons. Also curving bedlines and a bit of hardscape such as a boulder will add some dimension to the garden. This yard started off as nothing but a vast lawn with some overgrown shrubs along the perimeter and a large cherry tree in the back center and evolved into the landscape pictured here. The evergreens supply color and interest all year round and the the flowering shrubs, grasses and perennials add additional color and interest throughout the Spring through Fall. The landscape even takes on a new personality in the winter with snow lightly covering the framework of the trees and shrubs forming a picturesque scene.
